Our full buckle carriers feature:

- contoured waist bands to help transfer the child's weight to your hips and reduce back and shoulder fatigue.

- darted bodies that provide a seat for your child to rest more comfortably in.

- padding in the leg area to avoid red marks and pressure points on little legs.

- convenient sleeping hood that can be attached to the shoulder strap with snaps, allowing you to use it for a front or back carry with no assistance. The hood can also be tucked inside of the body when not in use and creates a small pocket.

- wide, padded shoulder straps to help avoid pressure points.

- durable buckles and webbing to ensure safety and ease of use.

- easy to care for twill fabrics that are sturdy and soft

*Our Half Buckle carriers have all of these wonderful features in addition to the longer tie straps that you would find on a traditional Mei Tai.

Carrier Styles

The Full Buckle carrier, sometimes called a soft structured carrier or SSC. Our full buckle carrier has a padded waist band to help distribute the weight of your child to your hips and waist. The straps for this style are short straps that have a female buckle piece at the end of each strap that buckles into a male counterpart that is sewn into the body. The main benefits of this style are ease of use and very easy learning curve. They are extremely user friendly for people that are not used to wearing a child or using a carrier. They are also great for snowy or rainy weather or places where you might not want to chance dragging your straps on the ground when you transfer your child in or out of the carrier.

The Half Buckle carrier or sometimes called a hybrid carrier has the same padded waist as the full buckle carrier, it helps redistribute the weight of your child to your hips and away from your shoulders. This carrier has long straps much like a traditional Mei Tai that you wrap around your body and child and then tie to secure it. One of the major benefits to this are being able to tie the straps in various ways to help offset the weight of a heavier child. Another great thing about the half buckle is that wearers of vastly different sizes will find it just as comfortable to wear because they will be able to tie the straps in various ways to suit their body style. The half buckle may be more comfortable for some wearers using the carrier in a front carry because there will be fabric straps going across their back rather than the webbing from the full buckle. One of the other great benefits to the half buckle is that it can be worn with a much younger child because the straps can be crossed over the baby's back much in the same style as a Mei Tai, this provides the needed back support and narrows the gap at the edge of the carrier.

Body Sizes

We offer two sizes for our carriers so that you can choose the size that will best fit your needs. Some children prefer to have their arms out of the carrier while others prefer the snuggled in feeling of having their arms in. As a general rule, an average sized child will fit in the 16 inch body with their arms in until around 16 months. After that they can still ride safely and comfortably in that same carrier, but will be tall enough to have their arms out. The larger 18 inch body size is more suited to larger, older children that still would like to ride with their arms in. With my two boys, pictured at 1 1/2 and 3 years old, both can ride in the 16 and 18 inch bodies. With the 16 inch my 1 1/2 year old can snuggle his arms in if he chooses, or can ride with his arms out. My 3 year is of course riding either way, he can still get his arms in the carrier, it is just shorter on him. In the 18 inch body my younger son can only ride with his arms in, and is quite snuggled down inside of the carrier. My older son can ride with his arms in or out of the carrier but prefers to have his arms in. Both carriers are suitable for as long as you are comfortable carrying your child, it's mostly a matter of preference on the part of the child.

The standard 16 inch body is on the left, the extended 18 inch body is on the right. In these pictures Nathan is 18 months old and 30 1/2 inches tall and Trey is 3 and 36 1/2 inches tall.

Referral Program

Because the only thing better than a great deal is getting something for free! We truly believe that the very best advertisement is word of mouth so here's how it works, for each person that you refer that places an order we will offer you 10% off of your next order. So if you refer 3 people that all place orders, you would get 30% off of your next order. 7 people, 70% and if you refer 10 people then your next carrier is free! ($165.00 value, shipping not included) All you need to do is send us a note and let us know that you would like to redeem your discount and you can choose from an in-stock carrier or have a custom carrier made for you if there is not a waiting list. Why do we do this? Because the best compliment we can get is a referral from a happy customer. We am working on getting the referral account set up, but please feel free to contact us in the meantime and we will be more than happy to keep track the old fashion way until the program is in place.

Shipping

In stock carriers will ship within 3 days of payment via USPS Priority Mail unless you request other means of shipment. Please allow 2-4 weeks from receipt of materials for custom orders to be completed. You may request an order confirmation when your order ships with a delivery confirmation number. If you would like your package to be insured you must add the insurance on the check out page. We currently will ship to most anywhere in the world that can receive mail, if you aren't sure if we can ship to you just send us a note to check before placing your order.

Care

We do not pre-wash the carriers or the fabrics used to make the carriers. The strap materials are pre-shrunk by the mill and the panel fabrics will shrink very little, if at all. There are individuals with allergies and there is no possible way that we can wash some of the fabrics but not others. We will pre-wash your carrier if you request it before your order is shipped for a $5.00 charge. Machine washing is extremely hard on carriers and fabrics in general so we recommend spot cleaning whenever possible. Of course we know there are times that it will need more than a damp cloth so if you do need to wash it please wash it on a gentle cycle in a pillowcase with Woolite and then hang it to dry. We try to wash carriers, (any brand or type) less than once a month to extend the life of it. Please check your carrier every single time that you use it and discontinue use if you are concerned about the product.

Returns

As with all baby carriers there can be a learning curve to using our carriers so please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have about your carrier so that we might help you. There are lots of groups that are dedicated to helping people with carriers and we would be more than happy to help you find one.

Returns will be accepted within the first 3 days of receiving it so long as they are unwashed and in like new resalable condition. You must contact us before returning the item and receive confirmation for the return. Any item that is returned without confirmation will be returned to the sender at their own cost. The package must be postmarked and be sent with delivery confirmation within the first 3 days it has been received. This is verifiable by the delivery confirmation number from the shipping. You will be refunded your original purchase price minus the shipping. Refunds will NOT be given for anything postmarked after the 3 day window, NO EXCEPTIONS. Please do not post things for sale on forum boards if you expect to return or exchange them!

Custom orders, sale items and clearance items are non-returnable.

Limited Edition prints will be refunded at the purchase price less the shipping and 10% restocking fee. They must also be postmarked within 3 days of receipt of the package, anything after the 3 window will be refused, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Should an issue arise due to a cosmetically second quality product where it was not made clear to the buyer before it was purchased,(meaning the carrier was not stated as a "second") the buyer will be entitled to a new replacement carrier of the exact same materials and reimbursed for their shipping charges to send it back to us. We will ensure that the carrier is made and shipped promptly upon notification that there is an issue with your purchase. Please keep in mind that these are hand made items and while we strive for excellence in our design and production, they are not made by machines and we do allow for a small margin of error.

Any alterations to the carrier either by the purchaser or by a third party will void the return policy and warranty. We will not accept returns from third party users or anyone that is not the original purchaser.

Warranty Effective May 1st 2008

There is a one year non-transferable warranty on all carriers that are sold through Olives and Applesauce. The warranty applies only to the construction of the materials and does not cover normal wear and tear. I will replace snaps if need be in the first year for free as well as repair or replace anything that should happen to the carrier that is due to manufacture defect. I will repair issues with the carrier that are not due to manufacture defect but the owner will be responsible for the charges. After the first year I will still take care of any issues that may arise, but it will be the responsibility of the owner to pay for the repairs. Shipping charges will be reimbursed for the original owner if there is a manufacture defect, otherwise it is the responsibility of the current owner to pay for the shipping.

Custom carriers will be covered for the materials that I use, but not for the panel or print fabrics. This means that the strap materials and snaps are covered, the silk that you might choose is not.
